Lake system in Szálka

The reservoir fed by a lot of spring water and rain-water was planned as a drinking water storage. It was created between 1978-80 by blocking the Lajvér stream in the valley of the hills of Szekszárd. From the beginning the lake is used for fishing, so the original idea was not established.
The bottom is covered by thin layer of slurry, it’s relatively hard on several places. Because of the lot of floods the smaller trees and bushes rotted away, on their place are just the boat hooks to see. The bigger trunks are challenging with the water yet, offering a good place for fishing.
This artificial lake is the biggest attraction in the village.
